Rep. Karen Bass and businessman Rick Caruso encounter off on Wednesday evening in their to start with — and only scheduled — televised discussion in this year’s race for mayor of Los Angeles.

Bass, who’s also pledged to tackle the city’s homelessness and criminal offense problems, has highlighted Caruso’s tenure on the USC Board of Trustees, through which the faculty confronted lawsuits regarding many years of alleged sexual abuse by a campus gynecologist.
