The NHL condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine in a statement on Monday, vowing to suspend its company dealings with Russian partners, but the league also expressed its sympathy for Russian native players who it says perform “on behalf” of its clubs and not Russia.
The league reported it hopes for a rapid and “peaceful resolution” and took a stance from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, asserting a halt on its dealings with Russian enterprise associates and other measures.
“The National Hockey League condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and urges a tranquil resolution as swiftly as doable,” the statement read through. “Productive immediately, we are suspending our interactions with our enterprise associates in Russia and we are pausing our Russian language social and digital media sites. In addition, we are discontinuing any consideration of Russia as a site for any potential competitions involving the NHL.”
The league also expressed its “worry” for its Russian-born gamers and their families.
